Babe’s And Ricky’s Inn – A Real Blues Club!

This 90 minute documentary film ‘Babe’s and Ricky’s Inn’ directed by  Ramin Niami chronicles the last days of a juke joint and blues club situated in South Central Los Angeles.

For 53 years, Laura Mae Gross (aka Mama Laura), who hailed from Mississippi, supported local and international blues musicians regardless of race, age, or gender.

Originally located on Central Avenue in South Central Los Angeles Mama Laura hosted John Lee Hooker, B.B. King and Albert King, as well as bluesmen such as Guitar Shorty, local bluesman Ray Bailey, Dennis Jones, Zac Harmon and Keb’ Mo’.

This is what a real blues club sounds and looks like!
